Rev. Dr. Thomas Cherian
Originally from South India, Pastor Thomas Cherian was raised in North India as the son of
missionary and pastoral parents, the late Pastor M. Cherian and Mrs. Saramma Cherian.
After completing undergraduate and graduate studies in science and sociology, Pastor Thomas pursued theological education with a specialization in Hebrew and Old Testament
studies. He completed his undergraduate and graduate theological studies through the Senate of Serampore College, an institution established by William Carey, widely recognized as the father of modern missions in India. He holds a PhD. from Asia Theological Association, focusing on the book of Jonah.
He has been actively involved in Christian ministry since 1992 and has served in theological education for more than three decades. Before relocating to the United States, Pastor Thomas served as Dean of Students in a renowned theological seminary in North India. Later he served as an evangelist preaching the good news to the unreached. He comfortably communicates in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Urdu.
He currently serves as the pastor of Rehoboth Covenant Church, where he remains deeply committed to shepherding the congregation and equipping believers for spiritual growth and faithful service. He also serves as the Dean of Academics at Houston Bible Seminary.
With God’s help, the support of his family, and the prayers and dedication of the Rehoboth Covenant Church family, he looks forward to seeing the church continue to grow and become fruitful in keeping with the meaning of the name Rehoboth:
“For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”
— Genesis 26:22
